Rasberry Road QP and some ramblings...

The QP for this page is available here: Rasberry Road. Designed by me. Kit by Susan Darter. It is called Boys To Men.

I'm having kind of a bumpy run right now. At the moment, I have a migraine, which I did take some stuff for, and I do have numb, but I can feel it rumbling around.

I want to know what lessons we teach our children when we allow them to be disrespectful to an adult in a position of authority. Instead of letting them take their punishment, we bale them out. Thereby negating any lesson that should have been learned because our perfect child never would have done that.

I'm talking about a nasty little cheerleader I know with a very bad attitude. she disrespected me infront of all her jv and the varsity squad. The head coach gave her 10 demerits, which 11 is enough to be kicked off. Her mother had a stinkin' fit, and the principal said that since I am not a full time teacher, I can't give punishments. I'm the asst. coach. Well, I was. I didn't give the punishment. The head coach did. I've retired. I'm kinda sad about it as I love coaching cheerleading, but I can't coach without any discipline.

That is a wonderful layout.
Sorry you had to encounter a rude young lady, if she isn't punished she will never learn right from wrong.

Yikes! I can't believe that. I'm sorry they put you in that position. Is there another place you can coach at like for one of the local sports leagues?

Aww, that sucks about the cheerleader. They definitely validated her bad behavior and I bet they'll be sorry in the long run! Your page looks great!

You layouts are lovely!

Sorry to hear about your migraine! I've had a bunch recently and they sure aren't fun!

That snotty cheerleader--ugg! She absolutely needed to be punished and her mother and the principal are just not seeing what really happened. Maybe you can find another couching position somewhere else.

oh wow... so sorry... but it sounds like the cheerleader really won since you left :(

I totally agree with you on this. Teachers and coaches need to have not only responsibility but authority, and parents need to back them up, even when it means their own child may suffer having to learn a lesson for bad behavior. Sure seems like the principal should have backed you up on that one.

Parents should be backing up teachers & coaches but it seems that rarely happens these days.

By the way Gravenstein apples make the best sauce and apple butter.

That is terrible! They wonder why kids are the way they are now it is because you can't discipline anyone!

It's sad that you hear that stuff every day!! The schools are run by the kids and parents anymore and I wish there was a way to get things back. I'm glad you did what you did, but I think I would've made my point to the little minded cheerleader and her mother as I was walking out the door. It's sad that you had to choose the route you did.

Awww... bummer! I almost dread my kids getting to the age where I'll have to deal with their "friends" poor attitudes. Sorry that happened to you. I've stopped by to say, "Hi!", courtesy of the blog train. I'd love a visit from you: http://isladeangela.wordpress.com/
